Facing south-southeast, the single-site Grand Cru Geisberg and Osterberg de Ribeauvillé, which look down over the Trimbach estate, have nurtured this wine for several generations. Average vine age is 45 years giving limited yields – scarcity helps create outstanding wines. The terrain’s marl, limestone and sandstone composition with remnants of shells, as well as lovely ripe grapes, lend this wine remarkable personality: a powerful dry Riesling underpinned by a mineral note and fine-cut acidity. The company’s trophy wine, Cuvée Frédéric Émile, matures nicely for 20 years or more in great vintages and is sought after by wine enthusiasts and collectors.
